Making gifs from YouTube videos!

Thought this was good enough to share with all of you here.

You can also find all these gifs on my twitter @AllTarHeelDan or on my google+ +Dan DeWitt 

All you do is find the youtube video you want to change into a gif (can only use 5-10 seconds of it) and replace everything in front of youtube in the url and put "gif" there instead. Then follow the directions and you are done.

Great way to relive amazing Tar Heel memories or more recent moments of UNC. Go to town Tar Heel Nation! (who knows how long it will last)

#UNCLive for Tar Heel GameDay Videos/Pictures!

Calling all of Tar Heel Nation

Beginning this year I have started a +Tagboard to gather all possible pictures and videos for the Tar Heels! 

It will collect all videos and pictures as long as the hashtag #UNCLive is attached to the video/picture when it is posted. This works on pretty much all the social media platforms including twitter, facebook, instagram, google+, and vine! 

It has begun already so if you post any pictures or videos, just remember to attach #UNCLive to it. It would be great to really get it going heading into the football season with all the tailgating and stadium pictures as well as highlight videos/vines. Then hopefully it will carry right into basketball season. Of course, it can be used for any Tar Heels Athletics team and even just fan swag or game outfits. I would love to have fans even use it to post how or where they are watching Heels games using the hashtag.

Week 7

So is it awkward to interview yourself? Well what if I interview myself, please let me know! Either way, it just happened right here on UNC Hoops Talk with week 7 of "Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans. That's right, yours truly has done it.

Okay, so after missing one last week I just couldn't let it go for another week and to solve it I interviewed myself and hope you learned something new about me. If you enjoyed it please like the video and subscribe if you haven't done so already. I appreciate it.

Also, I need some more passionate Tar Heel fans that are willing to come on and be interviewed about being a Tar Heel fan so I can keep these interviews coming throughout the entire off-season. Eric House- Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans- ep. 6

Week 6

This week on "Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans" comes an already big YouTube star in Eric House (catch him as the star of Redneck 911 call)! Much more than that though, Eric is a big time Tar Heel's fan and loves to talk about them any time, any place and with anyone. You can see how passionate he is in the video but you can also see how much he loves talking about them as I try to keep them to around 10 minutes and we were having such a good time we ended up close to 30. Don't worry it's all great content if you are as hardcore as Eric and I.

Premiere Episode- Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans

To help get through the long off-season I am interviewing any and all Tar Heel Fans willing to come on to the show and be interviewed. I am calling the segment "Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans." (For all the details check out the post on it here.

Today I am releasing the premiere episode of it! I am quite excited about it as I think the interviews are going really well and are a lot of fun. I hope you feel the same way and that you will support the show by watching and following along as well as sharing them on social media or with friends and family. A new interview will be released each Monday throughout the off-season (as long as I get enough interviews, so come get on while there are spots open).

It would be great if you would also connect with each Tar Heel fan being interviewed or at least the ones you seem to relate with as well as with me if you have not already, as this is the purpose of the segment. Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans!

Do you miss college basketball already? Do you feel the off-season is just too long and Late Night with Roy just can't get here quick enough?

Well you are just like every Tar Heel fan out there then. How well do you know all those other fans going through the same feelings you are experiencing? A lot of us "know" a lot of UNC fans on twitter or Google+ or maybe on YouTube, but do you really know them?

In an effort to help with all of the questions posed about I bring you a new YouTube segment/show. I can't bring you college basketball, but we can talk about it. I can't shorten the off-season, but I can try to take your mind off of it.

"Get to know your Tar Heel...Fans" is going to be a quick interview with a different die-hard Tar Heel fan each week. Each Monday I will release a new interview to help you get through that week (or at least through Monday or whatever day you choose to watch it on).

My hope is to help Tar Heel Nation grow a little closer and tighter, but letting you get to know a Tar Heel fan a little better. Hopefully, though the YouTube video it makes it a little more personal and you feel you know that weeks UNC fan a little better than casual chatter on twitter or any other social media. I will help you connect with the Tar Heel fan of the week and hopefully genuine conversation will ensue from it.

The premiere episode will be released this upcoming Monday, May 5 and plan to have a new one each week until at least when practice begins.

For this all to work I will need a little help and support from all of Tar Heel Nation! First, I need die-hard Tar Heels to be willing to be interviewed and become a Tar Heel fan of the week. It is a pretty painless process and you don't have to be a big-wig or professional to do it. The interview will only be 5-10 minutes, 15 at the most and all of the questions are pretty general about you being a Tar Heel fanatic. You can take it as specific as you want or just stay general, all the more personal you are, the more people will feel they know you and want to connect with you.

Second, we need to get the word out about this project. Subscribing to YouTube.com/UNCHoopsTalk, tweeting, sharing, and posting about each episode so more UNC fans are able to find it, and connecting with each Tar Heel fan of the week will make this a huge success. Then we will be able to show all those other fanbases just how much stronger and better we really are!

Lastly, if you feel you know someone who would be perfect for this or willing to help out, give them my contact info and have them get ahold or me or let me know how I can get ahold of them.

As stated in the first paragraph the off-season is long, we will need lots of people to interview, don't be shy or think it's not for you. Show yourself as the true Carolina blue that runs in your veins.

Where Does the UNC Roller Coaster End?

As with many other Carolina fans, Roy Williams has to be scratching his head pretty hard trying to figure out what he’s got in this year’s squad of Tar Heels. In Williams’ 10 years at UNC, he’s yet to have a preconference campaign with the marquee wins this 2013-14 team has accomplished. A win over #3 Louisville in the championship game of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament in Connecticut, a 14-point shocker of a triumph over the #1 ranked Spartans of Michigan State in East Lansing, and a crucial victory in a battle of arguably the two most successful basketball programs of all time against #11 Kentucky in Chapel Hill. All three of these teams beaten by the Heels were in Sports Illustrated’s preseason Final Four prediction (Duke was the fourth). On the other side of the coin, Roy Williams is debatably yet to coach a UNC team with as poor of preconference losses as this year’s team has on its resume.

A week before UNC’s first big win of the 2013-14 season over Louisville, Carolina lost in the Dean Dome to a Belmont team that played UNC close for most of the game then caught fire late from the deep to get the come from behind 3-point win. Then, a week after beating the Louisville Cards, the Heels were humbled in a 4-point loss by a physical UAB team that outrebounded UNC by a 52-37 margin. While both Belmont and UAB have been enjoying strong seasons thus far (Belmont’s record is currently 12-6 and UAB is 11-4), they aren’t teams that UNC has traditionally struggled to defeat. Free throw shooting was one of the clear signs of weakness in these Heels’ losses, but they weren’t the only issues. Carolina also went on to drop a close game against Texas (likely NCAA Tournament team) in Chapel Hill four days after defeating the Kentucky Wildcats on that same floor. Three days after losing to Texas, UNC received a scare from a spirited Davidson team that took Carolina into OT in the Smith Center before the Tar Heels prevailed.

After the Davidson game, UNC went on to finish out preconference play with comfortable wins over Northern Kentucky and UNCW. As ACC play began, many people speculated on which Carolina team would show up for conference action. Today, the Tar Heels sit at 0-3 in conference play (alone in last for the ACC), their worst start since 1997. Although their most recent loss was to #2 Syracuse (undefeated) in the Carrier Dome, the Heels also loss to Wake Forest in Winston and most disturbingly, to a 9-6 Miami team in Chapel Hill. Clearly, it’s been more of the team that lost Belmont & UAB putting on the Carolina Blue these past few games.

Carolina fans are left hoping the Heels can rekindle their early season magic to make a run in ACC play. On the bright side, the 1997 team did come back from their 0-3 start to finish 11-5 in the ACC and even the 2009 Carolina squad began ACC conference play 0-2 before going on to win the ACC regular season and the NCAA Championship. If this group of players can beat Michigan State on MSU’s home court, they can beat anyone in the ACC. The Heels need to regain the confidence and mentality they had for their big match ups in the early season. If they do, they can recover from this shaky start to ACC play just like their Tar Heel brethren before them. Luckily, UNC gets Boston College (5-12 and 1-3 in the ACC) next on Saturday in Chapel Hill. To start riding this roller coaster of a season back up, UNC has to come out energized and show they can beat a team they are more talented than at home. Then they can begin to build this season into something that makes their early season successes meaningful in the eyes of the NCAA Tournament Selection Committee.

Should College Athletes be Paid?

Another week, another Google Hangout from the Google+ College Basketball Community.

This we take on the discussion of whether college athletes should be paid or not. Of course, we don't come up with a definite answer as there really isn't the perfect answer. We try to bring up the best possible solutions and also the problems that would present themselves with them.
