Leading into the showdown with #1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats, here is Coach Roy Williams weekly press conference.
We will need to really step it up and be ready for this one. Win or lose I hope we come out and compete with them.
In other news Alex Poythress torn his ACL in practice yesterday and will be out for the season. Obviously this hurts UK overall, but there are a lot of teams that will rally around losing a guy. Of course, Kentucky doesn't need to rally to be really good. It should and hopefully will be an interesting game.

Should College Athletes be Paid?
Another week, another Google Hangout from the Google+ College Basketball Community.
This we take on the discussion of whether college athletes should be paid or not. Of course, we don't come up with a definite answer as there really isn't the perfect answer. We try to bring up the best possible solutions and also the problems that would present themselves with them.
Joining +John Martin, +Jesse Wojdylo, and myself +Dan DeWitt this week is Kentucky student and journalist major, +Kindsey Bernhard who just finished writing a paper on this very topic.

College Basketball Day 1 Recap
Yesterday I took a little break from watching football and sat down with +John Martin to recap the first days action of the 2013-14 college basketball season.
We discuss the affects of the new rule changes and our impressions of how some of the top teams and players looked, without trying to overanalyze anything too early.
We finish off with our thoughts the Champions Classic coming up on Tuesday when my computer decides it doesn't want to talk about dook anymore and shuts off. We do get through the discussion of the Kentucky vs. Michigan St. match up. Sorry about the sudden ending, hope you enjoy.

College Basketball Roundtable Hangout #2
For the second roundtable we discuss social media (twitter) and college athletics (basketball mostly). Along with the regulars +Jesse Wojdylo, +John Martin, and myself +Dan DeWitt, we had special guest +Tyler Thompson from KSR. Hopefully, if your reading this post, your a Tar Heel fan and have no idea what KSR. Well its Kentucky Sports Radio, the largest independent sports radio show, well at least in Kentucky.
No I have not gone to the dark side (one of them), I am still a die-hard UNC hoops fan. However, she was the perfect guest for this topic. She follows the Kentucky players, former players, and recruits enough to have a tweet beat each week with all the best tweets. She knows the way Kentucky handles twitter and social media and well with Coach Cal, they are one of the more vibrant social media users when it comes to college basketball.
It was some good discussion and hope you enjoy! Next week we will actually have some games to discuss, (thank goodness).

College Basketball Roundtable Hangout

ACC Men's Basketball Champions and Runners-up since 1980
I have compiled a list of all the Championships and runner-up that the ACC has won in men's basketball since 1980.
Since we are in a couple of transition years I have kept Maryland in and Louisville out for now, however I did add Louisville's stats at the bottom, which only helps the ACC look better!
Is there really any conference even close to this in basketball?
Is the ACC the SEC of basketball? (Without the string of 7 straight which would be much harder to do in bball)

Duke: 91,92,01,10 86,90,94,99
Georgia Tech: 04
Maryland: 02
North Carolina: 82,93,05,09 81
North Carolina State: 83
Syracuse: 03 87,96
Total: 11 8
Louisville: 80,13
To me that is crazy to have 11 championships and 8 runner-ups in 23 years and it will go up to 12 championships to our credit when Louisville takes Maryland's spot!
