Interview with Hall of Famer Rick Barry of the New York Life Commercial!

Another part of my trip as an ambassador of the Tar Heels with +New York Life Insurance Company to the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn was the opportunity to talk with and interview Hall of Fame basketball player Rick Barry. You may recognize him from the New York Life commercials of him shooting the underhand free throws he is so well known for and even making one blindfolded. 

We did discuss the filming of the commercial and Rick said there is more to be seen. I am working on getting the unseen footage to show all of you! Stay tuned for that. Until then though, enjoy this interview where we also discuss changes in recruiting from Rick's days to his sons (he has several successful ones) as well as coaching styles, and some of Rick's top accomplishments.

UNC Postgame Coverage vs. Duke

The regular season has come to an end, leaving the Tar Heels at 11-7 in the ACC and 21-10 overall and with the 5th seed in the ACC tournament. UNC will meet the winner of Boston College and Georgia Tech on Wednesday. If they win they will advance to take on Louisville Thursday.

UNC Basketball vs.Ga Tech Postgame Coverage!

With just one game left in the regular season the Tar Heels sit in 5th. Of course that last ACC game is always a big one and with the chance to still earn the important double bye 4th seed it becomes even bigger for UNC. Also, with Carolina getting back guys from injury it is important to work them, especially Theo, back into the rotation and get them some run before the NCAA tournament gets here.

UNC BBall vs. Miami Postgame Coverage!

The Tar Heels improve to 10-6 in the ACC standings, but with just 2 games left there are still 1 game behind Louisville and that coveted double bye #4 seed. With a road game at Georgia Tech coming on Tuesday and then hosting Duke it promises to be an interesting final stretch in the ACC and for Carolina.

UNC Basketball vs. Boston College Postgame Coverage

After a slow start in the first half, the Tar Heels finally started pounding the ball inside to Brice Johnson and new starter Isaiah Hicks. This spelled nice success on a day when Marcus Paige and new starter Nate Britt were slow to get started and strapped with foul trouble.  The Heels did enough and came away with the 79-68 victory.

UNC dropped in OT by Louisville & by #3 Virginia!

UNC Hoops Talk Podcast #49

The winning streak is over...the Heels had their 6 game winning streak snapped on Saturday in Louisville, losing to the Cardinals in OT after leading by as many as 18 in the second half.

With a quick turnaround, UNC hosted #3 Virginia on Monday and the Cavaliers again pulled away in the second half to bring the Tar Heels to 7-3 in the ACC and 17-6 overall.

With a little bit of a break here playing just 1 game in the next 11 days can the Heels get healthy? Is it just a health issue? I look forward and project out the next couple weeks worth of games, which brings us right up to the first meeting with that school down the road.

UNC Basketball Postgame vs. Virginia

The Tar Heels wilt in the second half again. They looked tired and beat up as the Cavaliers pulled away and gave the Heels thier second striaght loss leaving them at 7-3 in the ACC.

I know this is a couple days late, but I was at the game in person and didn't get home til late and then yesterday was well Super Bowl day. So as we get ready to take on Virginia at home this evening here is the postgame coverage from Saturday.

Besides giving up the 18 point lead in the second half and losing in OT it was a great environment for the Heels and great experience for me as I got to cover it as part of the media, go behind the scenes, to the press conference and into the locker room! UNC Basketball vs. Syracuse Postgame Coverage!

This is why we trust in Roy! After a slow and sloppy start in the first half where we turned the ball over, didn't rebound well, and didn't have that sense of urgency, Roy obviously got into them pretty well at half time. Like this:



Nate Britt for sure got the message and stepped up huge in the second half finishing with 4 three-pointers and a career high 17 points! Paige continued to come on strong and we feed the big guys well enough to take care of business. Now on to Louisville in the Yum Center on Saturday for our 7th W in a row.
