Gil is back on the pod today, instead of diving into all the games (Wofford, Gonzaga, and UCLA) because no one wanted that anyway, he talks more about the state of UNC Basketball at the moment. Have Jeremiah Francis and Anthony Harris saved the season? Have we righted the ship? Do we still need to be worried? What's our starting line-up?
Tune in to get caught up and be ready for the Yale game on December 30th!
The North Carolina Tar Heels had a rough week dropping bad losses at home to Ohio St. and on the road at Virginia! Are the Heels in trouble? What can we expect from the rest of this season?
Also, I take a look at the next 2 games for UNC- Wofford in Carmichael and at Gonzaga!
This week I wrap up the Battle for Atlantis tourney for the #7 Tar Heels (hopefully you caught our individual game analysis on Instagram stories) and look ahead at a really big week for UNC basketball!
First up is the ACC/B1G Challenge where the Heels have #6 Ohio St. Buckeyes coming to Chapel Hill! They follow that up with a conference road trip to face #5 Virginia!
Gil takes us back through the Elon game, as tough as it was to watch the Tar Heels are now 4-0! Then he takes us through the Battle for Atlantis tourney UNC has coming up next week. 3 games in 3 days, but who will we see and how will we look.
The Tar Heels have started the season 2-0 and there is plenty to talk about! Of course, it all starts with Cole Anthony this season. As we talk through the Notre Dame and UNCW wins we also have to talk about the support and who will step up to help Cole score and how injuries have affected that.
After going through the first 2 games I take a look at the next 2 opponents in Gardner Webb and Elon.
Gil takes the podcast again this week as we get into weekly podcasts and the season is upon us! If you didn't catch his first pod, go check it out on YouTube!
This week he talks about the "secret" scrimmage the Tar Heels had with Villanova in Chapel Hill, briefly discussed the exhibition against Winston-Salem State, then ends with his preview and expectations for our season, conference, and home opener against Notre Dame!
Trying something new here, Gil (@yogigil) filled in for me to complete the 2019 players' predictions podcast this year. Trying something new, this will only go up on YouTube, so I hope you will check it out and let me know what you think? Should we do more of this?
It was pretty spot on with about what I would predict for a lot of the guys this year as well, leave feedback in comments, on twitter or Instagram (@AllTarHeelDan)
The annual predictions podcast is here! Thank you to everyone who sent in their predictions, that's what makes this podcast so fun to do every year and of course makes it possible for us to look back at who was close to right after the season.
Of course, we all want to pick the Tar Heels to win it all every year and I don't think this is going to stop any of us from cheering for that. That being said, here are the predictions I got sent in to me this year:
Mine- 25-6 regular season, top 2 of ACC, 2-1 in ACC tourney, 3-1 in NCAA tournament (leaning towards final four)
Overall- 30-8
Twitter:
-Jared Varner @jvarner_wv- 24-5 regular season 2nd in ACC win ACC tournament get 1 seed in March make to final four
-@thomascrown97- 14-6conference, 23-8 overall. ACC tournament probably semi final. NCAA i really don’t think we know enough about this team to make an educated guess, but based off of the nature of the tournament I’ll say at least a sweet 16.
-Chandler Collins @chancollins40- 22-9, sweet 16, split with duke in reg season and beat them in acc tourney
-Shaked Bar-Tal @sportguyshow- 25-6, 1st in acc, final four and cutting down the net!
-Alex Gilmore @a_gilmore88- 29-7 (16-4), lose in semis of ACCT after getting double bye and lose in Elite 8
-Jeff G. @steelheel40- 25-6 regular season!!
Final Four run!!
-William B Clark III @williambclark3- win ACC regular season, maybe tourney, big men the key, Cole fun to watch, go the distance (win it all)
-Michael Quick @bigpunisher78- 30-10 win acc regular season and make the final four in Atlanta
-@HeelsYes- 23-8, 6-7 of those in conference play, 3 seed in tourney and lose in elite 8
-Lorri Blair Mercer @carolinachic23- lose 5 reg. Season games, make it to the final 4
-Mark Krings @krings_23- 24-7
Lose in the ACC championship game
Make the elite eight
-GoHeelsAthletics- 32-8 with a new national championship banner!
-Andrew Braun drufitAT- I think the heels will win 25 games, win the acc, and final four
-Steven Lyon @slyon28- 22-9. 9-2 non-conference, 13-7 in conference for 3rd place. ACC tournament quarterfinals and sweet 16.
-Brad Keutzer @bradkeutzer22- 25-6 regular season champs. Lose to Louisville in acc champ game. Go to final four. Cole Anthony will be wooden award winner
-Elpidia Allen @TheycallmeEl- 23-8 Lose 2nd round of acc tournament and sweet 16
-Tre Stennett @triggaa_tre- 30-8
Final 4
ACC Regular Season Champs
-Snake @Elijah_Shriner- 28-9 elite 8
-Jackie Eason @jeasRyuu- 27-4... and I think we go to the championship...
-Alane Brewer Floyd @alanefloyd- My predictions: 31 regular season games:open with a loss to ND and then overall record of 23-8. I think we make ACC tourney finals but lose. NCAA tourney:we make the Final Four but lose there.
-John B @n2unc- 27-9 Majority of the losses before Jan. Sweet 16
-Alex German @_german53_- so I think CBB this year is gonna be Kansas and Michigan State then everyone else, so strong chance Carolina can make a final 4 run. I don’t think Cole is going to disappoint and I think Leaky is going to have a breakout year. and maybe some bias bc he’s my favorite one on the team, but I think Platek is going to play a huge role on both sides of the ball (27-4)

-@HeelsReport- Here is my prediction for the 2019/20 UNC Basketball season.
I believe UNC starts the season out with a conference win vs Notre Dame. I believe UNC will go 10-1 in Non-Conference play with a loss in the championship game vs Gonzaga in the Battle 4 Atlantis. I do believe UNC gets Gonzaga back on December 18th with a road win in Spokane. I 100% my next prediction because I believe this team has the potential to do this. I believe UNC goes 19-1 in the ACC. Yes, 19-1. And it’s not going to be against a tough team like Duke, Virginia, or Louisville. I believe we will have a road loss against Florida State on February 3rd. I believe UNC loses in the ACC Championship to Duke, but then we will go on to win the National Championship in Atlanta vs Michigan State. Cole Anthony wins National Player Of The Year and Final Four MOP

We also touch on Late Night with Roy a little bit and who stuck out during the scrimmage.
Coming up in the next pod will be the annual predictions podcast so send your prediction for the Heels' season in now!
Then we will have a players' prediction podcast as well. Jump on in and make sure you are subscribed and share with a Tar Heel fan near you!
I know, I know, it's been 4 months since the last podcast. It has been a super, crazy, busy summer here and it's not even slowing down now that summer is over. However, the podcast must go on! It is high time we get ramped up again for the upcoming season! This is just a short one explaining myself and asking you to stick with me as we follow the Tar Heels together.
Coming soon will be the annual recruiting podcast, the annual predictions podcast (so send yours in) and everything else to get ready for the season!
I hope you are still here listening or will come back to the UNC Hoops Talk podcast as we start a new season and stay on top of all the games, stats, and news related to our beloved UNC Tar Heels!
It's been way too long and so much has happened with UNC Hoops since the last podcast. I try to get to it all as well as closing out last season, looking back at our pre-season predictions here on the pod and looking ahead for the podcast.
Our Tar Heels have ended another season, unfortunately not the way we all hoped for. UNC dropped out in the Sweet 16 to a hot shooting Auburn team and on a day with a few Tar Heels under the weather.
I talk that game, other sweet 16 games and the wonder that was the Elite 8, before looking at the Tar Heel-less Final 4.
After missing last week and revealing my bracket, I am back and so are the Tar Heels! UNC is back in the Sweet 16 for a record 29th time. After struggling with Iona in the first half before pulling away, then taking care of Washington in a business-like way, the Heels are on to take on 5 seed Auburn who dismantled Kansas!
I talk about all 3 of those games as well as take a look at the other Sweet 16 games this Thursday and Friday before taking a look at possible Elite 8 games.
The Tar Heels swept Duke and are Co-ACC regular season champs! We take a quick look at that one and then...on to the ACC Tourney! A look at the bracket and UNC's path to another championship!
The Tar Heels are now on a 6 game winning streak after beating Clemson and BC over the past week! Now we are down to one regular season game, of course, the Senior night, the home game with Duke!
I am going to look at all those games as we close out the regular season on another successful run by our North Carolina Tar Heels team!
Plus a quick look at the ACC tournament and around college basketball as a whole!
After the huge week last week, UNC was due to slip up right? Wrong! The Tar Heels kept it right on rolling playing well and taking down Florida State and Syracuse at home!
After looking back over those, we turn to the final 2 road games of the regular season for the Heels, at Clemson and at Boston College.
After a major blowout win at Wake Forest, the Tar Heels went into Cameron Indoor Stadium and took out the Blue Devils 88-72! They did it against a Duke team that didn't have freshman Zion Williamson, but that doesn't take away what UNC accomplished or how they looked last night!
Then we take a look at the next week for the Tar Heels as well.
The Tar Heels barely squeezed by Miami in OT and then let it slip away down the stretch against Virginia after some injuries. We take a look at both of those games before looking ahead to Wake Forest and the first match-up against Duke!
Since the big Louisville loss at home the Tar Heels have now won 6 in a row with Miami and Virginia coming to town. We first take a look at the last 3 games, at Georgia Tech, at Louisville, and NC State and how UNC has gotten it rolling. Then we turn to this week's games against the Hurricanes and Cavaliers!
The Tar Heels had 2 more games this past week and added 2 more ACC wins to their record! I go back through the Miami and Virginia Tech wins and what it takes for the Heels to be consistent!
Then we look ahead to the next 3 games for the guys!
